51. “This mind, mendicants, is radiant. But it is corrupted by passing corruptions. An unlearned ordinary person does not truly understand this. So I say that the unlearned ordinary person has no development of the mind.”
1. - Tâm này, này các Tỷ-kheo, là sáng chói. Và tâm này bị ô nhiễm bởi các cấu uế từ ngoài vào. Kẻ phàm phu ít nghe, không như thật rõ biết tâm ấy. Do vậy, Ta nói rằng tâm kẻ phàm phu ít nghe, không tu tập được.
52. “This mind, mendicants, is radiant. And it is freed from passing corruptions. A learned noble disciple truly understands this. So I say that the learned noble disciple has development of the mind.”

53. “If, mendicants, a mendicant cultivates a mind of love even as long as a finger-snap, they’re called a mendicant who does not lack absorption, who follows the Teacher’s instructions, who responds to advice, and who does not eat the country’s alms in vain. How much more so those who make much of it!”

Nếu chỉ trong khoảnh khắc búng móng tay, này các Tỷ-kheo, vị Tỷ-kheo phát từ tâm; vị ấy, này các Tỷ-kheo, được gọi là vị Tỷ-kheo trú Thiền tịnh không có trống không, làm theo lời dạy bậc Ðạo Sư, là người làm theo giáo giới, ăn đồ ăn khất thực của xứ, không có uổng phí. Còn nói gì những người làm cho sung mãn từ tâm ấy.

56. “Mendicants, intention shapes all phenomena whatsoever that are unskillful, part of the unskillful, on the side of the unskillful. Intention is the first of those phenomena to arise, and unskillful phenomena follow right behind.”
6. Phàm những pháp nào, này các Tỷ-kheo, là bất thiện, thuộc thành phần bất thiện, đứng về phía bất thiện, tất cả các pháp ấy đều được ý đi trước. Ý khởi trước các pháp ấy. Các pháp bất thiện theo sau.
57. “Mendicants, intention shapes all phenomena whatsoever that are skillful, part of the skillful, on the side of the skillful. Intention is the first of those phenomena to arise, and skillful phenomena follow right behind.”
7. Phàm những pháp nào, này các Tỷ-kheo, là thiện, thuộc thành phần thiện, đứng về phía thiện, tất cả các pháp ấy đều được ý đi trước. Ý khởi trước các pháp ấy. Các pháp thiện theo sau.
58. “Mendicants, I do not see a single thing that gives rise to unskillful qualities, or makes skillful qualities decline like negligence. When you’re negligent, unskillful qualities arise and skillful qualities decline.”
8. Ta không thấy một pháp nào khác, này các Tỷ-kheo, do pháp ấy, các pháp bất thiện chưa sanh được sanh khởi, và các pháp thiện đã sanh bị đoạn tận, này các Tỷ-kheo, như phóng dật. Với người phóng dật, này các Tỷ-kheo, các pháp bất thiện chưa sanh được sanh khởi, và các pháp thiện đã sanh bị đoạn tận.
59. “Mendicants, I do not see a single thing that gives rise to skillful qualities, or makes unskillful qualities decline like diligence. When you’re diligent, skillful qualities arise and unskillful qualities decline.”
